Surströmming
In 2016 I tried Swedish surströmming at an event organised by Mediamatic, an organisation dedicated to developing and presenting cross-disciplinary art, design, and science practices.
The most palatable way to eat surströmming is to take a piece of Swedish tunnbröd (a flat bread), add a layer of sour cream, add almond potato’s, onion and the surströmming. Rolll and cut into bite sized pieces. It was doable, but I also tried a piece without the bread and sour cream and I had the taste of vomit in my mouth for the duration of the night. A once in a life experience.
